I tailor the ceremony to the couple. I don't work from a pre-printed script. I want your families and friends to recognize YOU in your ceremony. It's important that the ceremony fits the couple, not the other way around.
I listen carefully to help craft a ceremony that reflects who they are, and is unique to them. Listening to their story is the most important thing. When I first meet a couple I also invite them to describe their ideal wedding ceremony.
Some couples I've married have some religious background, and some have none at all. I've led ceremonies between Christians and Jews, non-believers and believers and have incorporated cultural elements when they fit. Some ceremonies have the additional, and interesting opportunity of blending families when children are involved.
